Dip then dazzle

Fancy a super-quick way to tone up your arms and shoulders? Check this exercise out. New year, new you, new upper arms.

How to do it

  • You need a chair for this exercise, ideally placed against a wall for stability.
  • Sit down on the chair, hands level with your thighs, gripping the chair edges.
  • Move forward until your bum is off the chair, with your knees bent at 90 degrees.
  • Lower yourself off the chair using only your arms, bending your elbows. Lower yourself down until the chair edge is level with the middle of your back.
  • Straighten back up by pushing yourself up on the back of your chair.
  • Aim for 5 reps to begin with.

Adios tip: Make sure you don’t hunch up – your shoulders and ears shouldn’t be touching, for example.
