Exercise for the whole family

If you've got a family, get them all to join in with your healthier new lifestyle! It makes it so much easier and more fun! Once exercise is part of your routine, you hardly notice you're doing it!

Walk!

Walking is a great everyday exercise – and we normally all have places to go throughout our day. Next time you’re making a short trip to the shops or taking the kids to school, leave the car at home. Look at the benefits:

  • You'll be surprised at how much fitter you become over a short time
  • It’s nice to get some fresh air and have more time for chatting! (None of us spend much quality time together when we’re in a car)
  • Walking is less stressful than driving
  • You’ll save money
  • Leisurely walking burns up to 240 calories an hour!

 

Make time in your day

Time, or the lack of it, is usually the biggest problem when it comes to exercising together. It’s good to try to make a bit of a routine; such as when the kids get back from school, why not go for a walk together? (Or do the school run on foot). You could get the kids to take it in turns to choose the route or set them a challenge, like counting how many dogs or how many lamp posts they can see!
